Maddy: Please always include the instructions for each problem you post. What you've posted is an algebraic expression, a quadratic function, not an equation, so we are not to "solve" it for x UNLESS the instructions tell us to set this expression equal to 0.

Since you're apparently not to "solve" this expression for x, your remaining options are to re-write it. The first such option that comes to mind is that of factoring the expression. That's what cwrw238 is suggesting. Example: x^2 - 3x + 2 = (x - 1)(x - 2). Note how (-1)(-2) = 2 and how -1 -2 = -3. Use Use this approach to factor x^2+5x-24.

Once again, @Maddy1527: PLEASE include the instructions with each problem you post. Otherwise your potential helpers have to make assumptions about what you want to do. x^2+5x-24 cannot be solved for x because it is not an equation. Neither is there any reason to integrate x^2+5x-24. If you want help with this problem, please respond, and get involved.
