1. lets calculate the number of hours he does skiing subtracting the lunch break =7 hours .
if he did not take rest # trips = 7*60/40=21/2=10.5 (max trips possible)
if he takes full rest in each trip # trips=7*60/50=8.4 (min trips possible)
So , 8.4<# trips <10.5 
9 or 10 trips possible . options has 9 so C
