Which of the following best expresses why newspapers took quite some time to become popular in the American colonies? The English governors banned all books and newspapers in an attempt to keep the colonists from saying anything unfavorable about them. Censorship by the English governors was common. This meant that the info in newspapers was very limited and colonists got most of their news from gossip.
