Michael is using a drawing program to complete a construction. Which construction is he completing?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

An equilateral triangle inscribed in a circle A square inscribed in a circle A regular pentagon inscribed in a circle A regular hexagon inscribed in a circle

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Is the black line in the middle supposed to be a part of the construction?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes. The whole thing is.

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

I'd say a regular hexagon because that's the only shape you'd have to draw a line through the middle of the circle for. All the other shapes call for a line further down the circle

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

|dw:1402085058878:dw| That's a regular hexagon inscribed in a circle

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Equilateral Triangle: |dw:1402085135442:dw|

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Regular pentagon: |dw:1402085181403:dw|

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Square: |dw:1402085212968:dw| (that ones not very good lol) But you get the point, a hexagon is the only shape inscribed in a circle that called for a line through the middle of the circle like in your picture.

I get it! Thank you so much!

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

You're welcome! :)

One more question?

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Yeah sure!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Robert is completing a construction of a square inscribed in a circle, as shown below. What should be the next step in his construction?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Construct a perpendicular bisector to line AB. Place his compass on the radius and draw two arcs above and below line AB. Make another circle from point B with the same radius as his original circle. Draw a line parallel to line AB that touches the circle at point A.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it would be the first one

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

|dw:1402085524511:dw| I'd say you're right :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you!!

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

You're welcome!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its square
