A ranger spots a forest fire while on a 30-meter observation tower. The angle of depression from the tower to the fire is 20 degrees. To the nearest meter, how far is the fire from the base of the tower? Please help !

oh its too easy .. u just need to revise teh angles .. well in this case u use the identity .. cos(angle)=x/30 hense xis ur distance from tower base to fire forest or wht ever ..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

30*cos(20)=distance required :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what would I do after I get the cos ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

take cos(20) multply the answer with 30.. its ur answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):
