Solve: -3 + |2x + 7| > 6 A. x < 1 B. x < -8 and x > 1 C. x > -8 D. x > 1 or x < -8

ok so you add 3 to both sides to isolate the absolute value and you have |2x+7| > 9 then you do your two problems. so 2x+7 > 9 and 2x+7 < -9 add 7 to both sides for each equation and you get 2x>2 for the first one and 2x<-16 for the second. divide by two on both sides for each one and you get x>1 and x<-8 so B is your answer.
