calc 1 How did they get this???????????

geerky42 (geerky42):

You can just use slope-point formula \(m = \dfrac{y_2 - y_1}{x_2 - x_1}\), where \((x_1,y_1)\) is fixed at (8,-4) (x1 is 8 and y1 is -4), and \((x_2,y_2)\) is at point \(\left(x,\dfrac{4}{7-x}\right)\). you just plug in value of x and calculate

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

ohh ok. Thank you. Been a long week :)

This work was meant to give you an idea of where the "derivative" or "slope of the tangent line to a curve at a given point" come from (that is, upon what they are based).
