In his poem, Crane shows that impact of war on women belonging to different age groups. He underlines the grief of women whose father, son and lover was killed. The same technique is used by Howell who depicts the sufferings of a mother and a girl. For both authors, common sense is considered as a rational choice, which includes aims, alternatives, consequences and choice.

Saboteur, written by Ha Jin, tells the story of anger and revenge. The story is told through the consciousness of Chiu Muguang, a university professor who is arrested and briefly kept in captivity. Mr. Chiu was what many would consider a very intelligent person. In the beginning of the story, he is portrayed as a reasonable man. In the beginning, he is having a nice lunch with his new wife, however in the end, revenge and anger took over his emotions and caused him to do things out of the ordinary for someone like him.

I feel that it was Mr. Harris who perhaps misinterpreted the quote. Kipling isn't saying that the Occident and Orient will never understand each other. He's saying that although we may be different, Someone will judge our actions equally without discrimination.
