How could the relationship of the data be classified? A fairly strong positive correlation A fairly weak positive correlation A fairly weak negative correlation No correlation
no correlation
Correlation is Positive when the values increase together, and Correlation is Negative when one value decreases as the other increases
It's essential that you be able to recognize all four cases: A fairly strong positive correlation A fairly weak positive correlation A fairly weak negative correlation No correlation Think: What does "a fairly strong positive linear correlation" mean? Could you draw a sample scatter plot that illustrates this situation? Could you do the same for each of the remaining three cases? You'll definitely need to be able to do this on a quiz or test soon.
here is no such type of relation
Have you a textbook with illustrations? If not, have you online learning materials to which you could refer? If not, have you done an Internet search for "linear correlation?"
@mathmale isnt a fairly weak positive correlation the same as a fairly weak negative correlation? or you can have one but not the other here
@perl: You can have one but not the other. In this case, the scatter diagram shows so little linearity that I'd hesitate to say either that we have pos. correl. or neg. correl., but rather answer "no correlation."
ok i see
