John receives a 2.5% real estate commission when he sells a home for his client. How much will the client receive from the sale of their $346,000 home?

OpenStudy (kohai):

So we know that John gets money when he sells the house. The question is asking, after John gets that money, how much will the client get?

OpenStudy (kohai):

So to find how much John gets, you have to multiply 346,000*0.025. 2.5% becomes 0.025 as a decimal. This gets 8,650.

OpenStudy (kohai):

So because we want to know how much the client gets (after John gets his share), you have to subtract 8,650 from 346,000

OpenStudy (kohai):

And so the client receives 337,350
