What is the formula for the arithmetic sequence shown in the graph? http://www.explorelearning.com/ELContent/gizmos/ELMath_Deliverable/ExplorationGuides/Algebra/images/EL_A2_ArithmeticSeq2.gif A. an = -0.5 + (n – 1)(-4) B. an = 0.5 + (n – 1)(-4) C. an = -4 + (n – 1)(-0.5) D. an = -4 + (n – 1)(0.5)

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Well it starts on -4 so you can cross out the top 2

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Arithmetic series equation = an=a1+(n-1)d where a1 is your first term and d is the difference between the numbers.

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

And the graph is increasing so we know the difference is not negative. So what's our answer?

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

the 0.5 is the slope of the graph (7/14)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its D? :)

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

right

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Yes it is D :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol okay thank you!
