How many lines of symmetry does an equilateral triangle have? 4 3 2 6

3

OpenStudy (mathmate):

The number of lines of symmetry for a regular polygon of n vertices has n lines of symmetry. Thos of odd degrees have lines of symmetry through each vertex and the mid-point of the opposite side. Polygons with even number of vertices, have lines of symmetry through each vertex and the opposite vertex, as well as lines joining the mid-points of pairs of opposite sides.

It's not that deep. A scalene triangle is a triangle with no lines of symmetry an isosceles triangle has at least one line of symmetry and an equilateral triangle has three lines of symmetry.

OpenStudy (isaiah.feynman):

@Shay17 Sure about the isosceles one?

OpenStudy (mathmate):

@Isaiah.Feynman "at least one" because isosceles triangles could also be equilateral, just like rectangles could be squares.
