HELP PLEASE <3 WILL MEDAL FOR BEST ANSWER <3 7. A compound inequality is shown below. 5 < 2 - 3v < 14 What is the solution of the compound inequality? a. -4 > v > -1 b. -4 < v < -1 c. 1 > v > 4 d. 1 < v < 4

OpenStudy (jtvatsim):

oooh, these are fun! First of all though, we should make things a little less confusing. First, break the complicated 5 < 2 - 3v < 14 into two separate problems: 5 < 2 - 3v and 2 - 3v < 14 that should look a bit easier to start with.

OpenStudy (jtvatsim):

We should solve one at a time, do you prefer the left or right? which should we solve first?

OpenStudy (jtvatsim):

doesn't really matter, it's just fun to choose. :)

OpenStudy (neer2890):

5<2-3v<14 Subtracting 2 both sides 3<-3v<12 dividing by 3 1<-v<4 multiplying by -1(< changes to>) -1>v>-4 or -4<v<-1

OpenStudy (neer2890):

so b is true
