Hey, I'm having some trouble with this question. Create your own function to teach the Martians about functions. Your function must contain at least two different operations. Using complete sentences, prove to Splott and Fizzle that your function is a legitimate function. How do I prove my function is a legitimate function using sentences? My function is f(x) = 5x +2. Correct. Plus, there can't be 2 y values to an x value. So, one way you can prove this binomial is a function is if you graph it, and apply the Vertical Line Test. If a vertical line only goes through one point at any time, then the expression is a function.

Oh, that is true. Well, you can explain that when you graph and and apply the Vertical Line Test, it will be a function. Hmm, you can explain that for every x value you plug in, you'll get a unique y value. o.o

That's pretty simple. Explain how f(3) is the same as plugging in 3 for x, and getting a y value out. I have to go now, sorry if I can't further help you.
