the sum of r recursive positive integers will be divisible by 2 if r is a multiple of?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

??? @ganeshie8

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

what is a `recursive positive integer` ?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

do u have any definition ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i have no idea!!

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

r consecutive positive integers : a, a+1, a+2 ... a+r-1

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

their sum : ra + r(r-1)/2

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

clearly one of r or r-1 is odd, so r needs to be a `multiple of 4` for the sum to be divisible by 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you know r is consecutive integer? because the question said recursive?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

haha i had just changed the question :P

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Above solution is for this question : the sum of r consecutive positive integers will be divisible by 2 if r is a multiple of?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is consecutive and recursive different?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

I don't know what a recursive number means... @mukushla

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let me search about it !!

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

then im sure the question has a mistake - it must be `consecutive` only :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

ty :) @dinisha check it with your teacher... it has to be `consecutive`... there is no such thing as recursive number... come back beat mukushla if ur teachers says otherwise :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hahahaha will be back after confirming.. anyways thank u @ganeshie8 and @mukushla !!
