Someone please check my answer Simplify the following expression: (x + 6y) - (3x − 10y). And I got -3x + 16y
First, get rid of the parentheses. And remember that in getting rid of parentheses when there's a negative sign outside to the left [as is the case in -(3x - 10y) ] Then upon getting rid of the parentheses, change the sign of all the terms inside... positives become negative, negatives become positive.
Ohh, let me retry it, in the meantime, I did this one Simplify: (3x − 5) + (5x + 1) 8x − 6 8x + 4 8x − 4 2x − 4 And I got C
Ok
I came back with -3x -60y
you found (x + 6y) - (3x − 10y) is -2x+16y they want you to match your answer to written in the form Ax + By A is the number in front of the x
Ohhh, so -2x + 16y is the answer?
yes
-2 is A so that is my answer -2 its saying your answer will be some number times x + another number times y so yes :)
Ok, thank you so much for helping! Can you check something else for me? Simplify: (3x − 5) + (5x + 1) 8x − 6 8x + 4 8x − 4 2x − 4 And I got C
yep
because you add the x. -3x + -5x would be -8x then you had -5 and 1 which would be -4 and it would make a total of -8x - 4
Thanks! I appreciate it!
no problem darling =)
