Nick needs to study a possible link between anti-inflammatory drugs and lung disease. Help Nick design a study that would be appropriate. Explain the type of study, the sampling method, the parameter of interest, and the statistic he could use to estimate that parameter. What conclusions would Nick be able to draw from this study? Wouldn't the study be observational method of studying? @ganeshie8

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

He better do an observational study as it is illegal to conduct experiments involving health issues on humans

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

He must use `simple random sampling` if he wants to generalize the results of study to entire population

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you so much, what about the parameter of interest? Do you know anything about that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And the conclusions he will be able to draw?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

The parameter of interest would be `mean` value of lung diseases found in the population

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh my goodness I owe you big time lol thank you thank you :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know what he can draw from this?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

He can estimate the parameter by using the `average value` statistic of the sample

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Since the sampling method is simple random, he will be able to conclude whether there is a correlation between anti-inflammatory drugs and lung disease. However he cannot make any cause-effect based conclusions since this is not an experiment.

Wow thank you so much ! You are deff talented lol
