Does any knows how to do this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

d + q = 40 0.10d + 0.25q = 7.75

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let the no of quarters be x THEN , the no of dimes WILL BE 38-x 0.25x + 0.10 ( 38-x) = 6.95 0.25x + 3.80 - 0.10x = 6.95 0.15x = 3.15 x = 21 ANSWER 21 quarters +17 dimes i got flvs too -,- its annoying

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol and that was incorrect

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This problem is a system of two equations. You know two facts: 1.) There is a combination of dimes and quarters which totals 38 coins 2.) The combination of these coins results in $6.95 Putting both of these facts into equation form results in 1.) D + Q = 38 2.) D($0.10) + Q($0.25) = ($6.95) To solve this, we'll be using the method of substitution. Equation 1.) is equivalent to D = 38 - Q. We'll substitute this value into equation 2.) 2.) (38-Q)($0.10) + Q($0.25) = ($6.95) Expanding this becomes: 38($0.10) - Q($0.10) + Q($0.25) = ($6.95) ($3.80) - Q($0.10) + Q($0.25) = ($6.95) - Q($0.10) + Q($0.25) = ($3.15) Grouping like terms: Q(-$0.10 + $0.25) = ($3.15) Q($0.15) = ($3.15) Q = ($3.15)/($0.15) Q = 21 After we've solved for Q, we can substitute this value back into 1.) to get D D = 38 - Q D = 38 - 21 D = 17 Jenna has 17 dimes. how could it be incorrect o.O

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

because it's different numbers read carefully and giving answers is not allowed on this site btw

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ive gotten answers all the time -,- so if you want to mark it as abuse please do so -,-

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

d + q = 40 0.10d + 0.25q = 7.75 d = 40 - q 0.10(40-q) + 0.25q = 7.75 solve for q

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

is this a test that ur working on or something?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No a practice application it just says mystery test but i can do it over and over again but i just seems to get the working wrong

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

oh okay then P = 2w + 2L L = 1 + W so P = 2w + 2(1+w) P = 14 14 = 2w + 2(1+w) solve for w

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so if i get \[14=2w+2+2w\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

am confused here on this part do i add all

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

you can add 2w + 2w = 4w so you get 14 = 4w + 2 then subtract 2 from both sides -2 -2 4w = 12 divide both sides by 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

correct :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where did you find 2w

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

perimeter formula = 2(width) + 2(length) length = 1 + width perimeter = 2(width) + 2(1+width)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

x + y = 275 x = 55 + y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dnt understand

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

that's the system of equations that you can solve for x from y = x - 55 x + x - 55 = 275 solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

still don't get it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

am sorry

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

x + x - 55 = 275 solve for x add like terms x + x = 2x 2x - 55 = 275 add 55 to both sides +55 +55

OpenStudy (anonymous):

answer is 165

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

that's what I got

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok hope its right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its right

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

^ you're welcome

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have two more are u wwilling to help me please

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

sure btw there's a pretty blue button to the right that says "Best Response" *cough*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol i was gonna press that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

t + r = 10 3.75t + 3.50r = 36.25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok dnt know where am suppose to start i see letters

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

lol xD try to solve for t r = 10 - t 3.75t + 3.50(10-t) = 36.25 solve for t

OpenStudy (anonymous):

am sorry but how do i subtract = t

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

like you would subtract any number... 3.75t - 3.5t = 0.25t

OpenStudy (anonymous):

after i subtract do i divide

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

get the 35 to the other side then divide

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i didnt get 35

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how'd you got that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do i divide 0.25 by 35

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

sorry I gtg 3.75t + 3.50(10-t) = 36.25 3.75 + 35 - 3.5t = 36.25 0.25t = 1.25 divide both sides by 0.25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's 5
