what are possible genotypes for tall and short pea plants?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

anyone? .-.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Genotypes are the makeups of specific cells referring to a specific characteristic of the cell. So, you have a tall and short pea plant. Let's say h refers to height. H is the tall genotype and h is the short genotype. Because I don't know the exact genotype of the tall plant (HH or Hh) I can't tell you exactly what it is. I know the short plant is hh because h is recessive, but without additional information, it could be anything.

thank you so much! :)

No problem, I hope this helps!

@emilycs713 You answer is only correct if it is a simple dominant/recessive relationship. We don't know for sure, but I assume, as I think you did, that this is talking about Mendel's peas. If those assumptions are correct and H is tall and h is short then: HH ==>tall Hs ==>tall sH ==>tall ss ==>short
