Rectangle RSTU will be dilated with a scale factor of 1/2 to form rectangle R′S′T′U′. Which ordered pair describes the location of R′? A. (−2, 4) B. (1, 4) C. (1, 7) D. (4, 4) Can someone explain this to me (where I can understand it?) without giving me the answer? :) Please and Thank You! @jim_thompson5910 @ganeshie8 @mathslover @Loser66 @iambatman @esshotwired @geerky42 @sourwing @Whitemonsterbunny17
Where is rectangle RSTU?
What is the ordered pair for point R?
IDK @jim_thompson5910 I need it ALL explained to me. :):):)
do you visually see point R on the image?
Hint: Dilation (x*1/2, y*1/2)
Dilation is when the size changes but stays the same proportionally, so with what I said just multiply each coordinate by 1/2.
U(2,6) U' = (2*1/2, 6*1/2) Does that make sense?
2 x 1/2, 8 x 1/2? I don't see a six... I see an 8... @iambatman
In my example I was using U
Oh, so would minwe be right?
what's half of 2?
...1... @jim_thompson5910
what's half of 8?
4 @jio @jim_thompson5910
Yeah so that's your R' coordinates.
(1,4)
I see. :) So B?
Yes
