The sides of a triangle are in the ratio of 1:2:2 and the perimeter of the triangle is 15 feet. The length of the shortest side is 2.5 feet 3 feet 5 feet 7.5 feet

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Well if you know the ratio is 1:2:2 that means one side (the 1) is the smallest and the other 2 sides will be double the smallest side but the same size. We know it can't be 2.5 because 2.5x2 is 5 and 2.5+5+5 does not equal 15 It's not 5 because 5x2 is 10 and 5+10+10 is not 15 and it's not 7.5 because 7.5x2 is 15 and 7.5+15+15 is not 15 So it has to be 3 because 3x2 ia 6 and 3+6+6 does = 15.
