Based on the book Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier. As you read, record six or more quotations that you find to be powerful or interesting. On the left side of the T-Chart, write the quotation; on the right side, record your response to the quotation. What does it make you think or feel? What does the quotation reveal about the character, the plot, the setting, etc.?
This question is based on how you feel about the story, so how do you feel?
I needed six quotations from the book, and I could finish the part on how I feel. Thank you though, for replying. I'm going to post what I came up with so other people can piggyback or something.
- “I am glad it cannot happen twice, the fever of first love.” Chapter 5 Response: I can relate to this because once you fall in love, especially the first time; it can be dangerous. I know that I was a wreck my first time being in love, and it really did feel like I was sick a couple of times. - “I did not mind. I did not care. They could say what they liked.” Chapter 11 Response: I can relate to this because this is how I feel about the majority of people around me. They can say and think whatever they want; it won’t matter to me because they aren’t important in my life. - “Fashions change so quickly nowadays they may even have altered by the time you get upstairs.” Chapter 3 Response: I can relate to this because my sister is all about staying “in style”. There are different outfits, companies, shoes, etc. that change with the snap of your fingers. All you need is someone famous wearing a clothing brand and it’s automatically “in style”. - “Happiness is not a possession to be prized; it is a quality of thought, a state of mind.” Chapter 27 Response: I can relate to this because I feel that happiness is something that comes and goes. Some things will bring you happiness, while other things may bring you sadness; but all it is, is a thought in your mind. - “Men are simpler than you imagine my sweet child. But what goes on in the twisted, tortuous minds of women would baffle anyone.” Chapter 16 Response: I can relate to this because I feel that men don’t have as much to worry about, which makes them simpler. - “We can never go back again, that much is certain. The past is still too close to us.” Chapter 2 Response: I can relate to this quote from the book the most, because my past seems to be chasing me into the person I am fighting to become. I didn’t get to make many decisions for myself while growing into who I am, and now that I can, it seems as though if I were to even take a step backwards, everything would crumble to pieces.
