Suppose that the functions g and h are defined for all real numbers x as follows. g(x)=x-3 h(x)=3x^2. Write the expressions for (g*h)(x) and (g=h)(x) and evaluate (g-h)(x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks for helping me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Data do you know an answer for me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what's that second one, (g=h)(x) ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry (g+h)(x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok... and is that first one multiplication or composition?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

multiplication

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you think you can figure it out for me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't want to... but i can help you figure it out for yourself, if you're willing...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, I think I have already figured out the answers... if I run those by you will you tell me if they are correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok (g*h)(x) = -9x^2 +3x^3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, now can you tell me the answer to the second one... So I know for sure you know how to do them... and then I will give you the answer to the evaluation one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha... nice try... i don't need to prove myself...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just wanna make sure lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok is the answer to the second one 3x^2 +x-3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can look at my profile and see the type of questions i answered in the past... i

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know how to do this, trust me...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok cool

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep.. second one is correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok and the last one is -8?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or wait, actually -7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

??? how did you get that last one???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I wrote the expression for (g-h)(x) which is -3+x+-3x^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, but you can simplify that so that you don't have that "+-" thingy... put it in standard form...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then I put -1 in for the x's and simplified

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-3 + x -3x^2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why did you put -1 in for x??? that was not part of the question... or was it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

evaluate the equation (g-h)(-1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

shoot I forgot to put the -1 in at the top lol sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok... -7 is correct when you stick in -1 for x....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

good work....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you hold on for like 2 minutes I will prolly have another one for you... and what are medals and can I give one to you?
