5. How did the issue of slavery lead to the division of the United States? Why did people feel slavery was needed?

The issue of slavery is an issue created by money, slavery was started by money, they used slaves to cut down the costs to pay for workers. In the mid-1800's the Industrial Revolution started, and Lincoln realized that we didn't need the slaves anymore, because industry made more money than plantations ever would. So since most manufacturing was done in the north, they didn't worry about the south, and many people wanted to abolish slavery because of the propaganda used by the U.S. Gov't, so they wouldn't look like they did it for money.
