well this is case of using simultaneous equations 5o + 5a = 7.70 5o + 3a = 6.40 -------------- 2a = 1.30 If you subtract the equations you can eliminate o then solving for a a = 0.65 now substitute it into either equation to find the cost of 5 oranges then calculate the cost of 1 orange
