How do you find out what Seventy percent of what number is 17.5?
"Seventy percent of what number is 17.5" translates to 0.7x = 17.5 where x is the unknown number
the 0.7 is the decimal form of 70%
if we know that 17.5 is the 100% original number what is 70% of that? \(\begin{array}{ccllll} quantity&percentage \\\hline\\ 17.5&100\\ 70&x \end{array}\implies \cfrac{17.5}{70}=\cfrac{100}{x}\)
hmmm I got my quantities swap off =) \(\begin{array}{ccllll} quantity&percentage \\\hline\\ 17.5&100\\ x&70 \end{array}\implies \cfrac{17.5}{x}=\cfrac{100}{70}j\)
more typos \(\bf \begin{array}{ccllll} quantity&percentage \\\hline\\ 17.5&100\\ x&70 \end{array}\implies \cfrac{17.5}{x}=\cfrac{100}{70}\)
First you have to change 70% into adecimal: 70=70/100=0.7 Then you basically divide 17.5 by 0.7: 17.5/0.7=?
