x=5,3x-1,4x-2 p=66 find the length of the shortest side please help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you missing any info?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm going to answer this as if your shape is a triangle because from the info you gave thats what is seems like

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no lol its in a triangle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes @TechnoSoul its in a traingle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can correct me if im wrong about the triangle part. so P - perimeter, im assuming which is the sum of all sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait.... @ruben12345 this is pointless work XD just plug in x into the 2 equations you can find it that way

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for example 66+5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or 4(66)-2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plug in x to just the first two equations that are shown, you get 14 and 18. 3x-1 is shorter if you just plug in x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

p (perimeter) = 66 yea? so then its just 14 + 18 + x = 66 making x 32 so then 14 is still the smallest side

OpenStudy (anonymous):

doesnt x = 5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ooh i see. i didnt read fully. you just recycled x :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya, thats what im saying. plug in x into 3x-1 and 4x-2. you will get 14 and 18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya sorry....habit to just put x now XD
