OpenStudy (xguardians):

y = 2x – 6 The slope is positive since it is going upwards. 2/1 (Rise over Run) = 2

OpenStudy (jim766):

look at the graph and find the slope, the rise/run what is the rise from the lower point to the higher one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

find the slope by taking your two points and putting them into the slope formula : (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1) (4,2)...x1 = 4 and y1 = 2 (2,-2)..x2 = 2 and y2 = -2 now we sub (-2 - 2) / (2 - 4) -4/-2 2.....the slope is 2 now take either of your points..(4,2)...x = 4 and y = 2 slope(m) = 2 now sub into y = mx + b form 2 = 2(4) + b 2 = 8 + b 2 - 8 = b -6 = b so we have : y = 2x - 6
