OpenStudy (anonymous):

If 42 cubes are joined together having dimensions 1cm each .if the measure of base is 18 cm .find its height.

I am thinking if you typed it differently, it'd be a little easier to understand. maybe just copy the question this time? and try and show what you think is a good way to start!

OpenStudy (doc.brown):

The base isn't 18 x 18. If it was the base would have 324 cubes and be 1cm high. So obviously the base is 18 cubes long, 1cm wide, and we are left with the question, how high is the stack?

OpenStudy (doc.brown):

First row 18 cubes, second row 18 cubes, What's the total so far. 18+18=36

Yes, I was wanting him to rewrite the question so he can understand it better. I don't think he added all the information as we don't know how the stack builds, (is it pyramid? is it straight up? do they stack on top?) The way you are going, we will not have an even stack!

OpenStudy (doc.brown):

42-36=6 blocks left. Put 'em on top, done! 3cm high

OpenStudy (doc.brown):

Or 18 along the bottom, the remainder straight up. 42-18=24 |dw:1402473507557:dw| So from a poorly worded question, thanks @jeremyggg, your answer is every number from 3 to 25.
