Do you know the order is which operations occur? PEMDAS! In this case you will just need to know that. 1. Solve inside parenthesis 2. Solve what was inside the parenthesis and multiply that by 2 3. Take 4 and multiply it by whatever the previous product was. 4. Add 5. Done!

@Phebe... reread what @xGuardians said. it has everything you need to know! but in case you need more clarification, the order of PEMDAS is this P for parentheses E for exponents M for multiplication D for division A for addition S for subtraction so what you do is solve the expression in that order... from P all the way to S as needed. |dw:1402529420281:dw| what do you get there?
