OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

Explain what is meant by the idea that the human digestive system is a generalist digestive system?

OpenStudy (matt101):

A generalist digestive is something that is able to digest a wide variety of different things (e.g. carbohydrates, proteins, fats), which is why humans are able to eat so many different foods. This would be in contrast to a specialist digestive system, which would be specifically adapted to digest one specific kind of food or compound.
