which cosine function has maximum of 2, a minimum of -2, and a period of 2pi/3? a. y=3 cos 2theta b.y=2 cos 2theta/3 c.y=2 cos 3theta d.y=2cos theta/3

OpenStudy (awkwardpanda):

evaluate csc 5pi/4 a. sqrt 2 b. sqrt 2/ 2 c. -sqrt2 d. -sqrt2/ 2

OpenStudy (aravindg):

Please post a single question at a time. Let's discuss the first question. Do you know maximum value of cosine function?

OpenStudy (awkwardpanda):

Sorry, I've done it before but nobody has said anything so.. I don't.

OpenStudy (aravindg):

Okay maximum value of cosine is 1 and and minimum is -1. Keeping that in mind y=2 cos x has maximum 2 and min -2 ,y=3 cos x has maximum 3 and minimum -3. Do you follow?

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

@AravindG are you saying that in y=3cos x the 3 stretches the wave up and down?

OpenStudy (aravindg):

Exactly.

OpenStudy (aravindg):

3*1=3

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

I believe to find the period you use 2pi/b but i dont remeber what b is
