every moderator must give a reason on why he/she is suspending you, without which he cannot suspend you. like in your case, you were told to use the site appropriately. refer to our code of conduct http://openstudy.com/code-of-conduct

SmartCents are used to unlock the cool titles that you can choose from, in every group! Like if you observe, i have the title of "Trusted Helper". I unlocked it by giving 50 SmartCents. You can also unlock titles when you have atleast 50 SmartCents in any of the group. Yes, they do. You get an email with the reason and time for suspension.
If you still didn't get any email, probably delay in the system, you'll get it soon :)
