differentiate the following function: y= 6 log3 x

OpenStudy (aravindg):

Do you know the differential of log x?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

@tjsaff" The easiest derivative of a logarithmic function is that of y = ln x, the natural log of x. This derivative is a good starting point for the problem at hand. Now suppose that you want to find the derivative of y = log x, the common log of x. The derivative of this function has some similarity to the derivative of y = ln x, but a certain adaptation must be made because the base of the common log is 10, not e. Would you mind looking up and typing out the derivatives of y = ln x and y = log x? Once you've done this, we could move on to finding the derivative of \[y=\log_{3}x \]

I strongly suggest that you list these derivative formulas, along with others, for easy and convenient review and application next time you need them.
