a big step forward for mass production came with the ability to make guns quickly. prior to mass production each gun was completely unique since there weren't any set standards on what parts of the gun had to measure. when mass production was introduced they said that they could make man guns quickly my using something known as interchangeable parts. no one believed them but it worked! interchangeable parts are necessary for mass production.
