|dw:1402629236589:dw| have any ideas how to find the other 2 sides?

OpenStudy (abbie):

do I use the pythagorean theorem?

OpenStudy (nikato):

well you cant yet because you only one side. do you know the special relationship between the hypothenuse and the side opposite the 30 angle

OpenStudy (nikato):

it says the hypotenuse= 1/2 (short leg aka the leg opposite the 30 angle) if this is true, what would the length of that side

OpenStudy (abbie):

doesn't it all add up to 180?

OpenStudy (abbie):

the two sides im trying to find are equal right?

OpenStudy (nikato):

no and no. we are finding the side lengths here. you're getting mixed up with angle measure which have to add up to 180 degrees and the two sides cant be equal because the angel measures are different. its not an isoscles triangle either. all three angles have different measures. theres 30, 60 and 90

OpenStudy (nikato):

this might help in your problem http://www.regentsprep.org/Regents/math/algtrig/ATT2/Ltri30.htm

OpenStudy (abbie):

wait ur not asking for the angle your asking for the sides one of the sides is 7 right? SO I have to find the other two but how

OpenStudy (nikato):

oh yes. thats what you need in order to answer your question which is asking you to find the perimeter. and you were given all three angles of the triangle already

OpenStudy (nikato):

like i said hint: the hypotenuse= 1/2 (shorter leg/side opposite the 30 angle)

OpenStudy (abbie):

is it 3.5?

OpenStudy (nikato):

correct. |dw:1402631517896:dw| and NOW you can use the pythagoreom theorem to find the last side, x.
