from looking at it quickly, everyone is correct except joe. the rules for simplifying powers are as follows multiplication and division of two terms with the same base corresponds with adding and subtracting the exponents respectively (ex x^2*x^3=x^5 whereas x^2/x^3=x^-1) putting a power up to a power or a root up to a power or taking a root of a power results in either multiplication or division of the powers ex: (x^2)^3=x^6 and \[\sqrt[2]{x} ^3 = x^(2/3)\] remember that roots are the same thing as 1 over the power (root 2 = ^(1/2) etc.)
