Why are scientists concerned about the use of the Bt toxin, which is used to kill insects, in genetic engineering? The Bt toxin is killing too many insects. The Bt toxin stays in the soil for long periods of time. The Bt toxin gene is not readily accepted by plants. The Bt toxin has been known to cause disease in plants.

OpenStudy (goodkylekiller):

i think its D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:( Hopefully.

OpenStudy (goodkylekiller):

or B

OpenStudy (goodkylekiller):

lemme cross check

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay...

OpenStudy (goodkylekiller):

@Somy can you check it?

OpenStudy (goodkylekiller):

hello shru

OpenStudy (anonymous):

HELP.

OpenStudy (alphadxg):

It's A, the plants produce a protein fatal to some of the most damaging cotton insect pests, which can damage these insects or pests digestive systems.

OpenStudy (goodkylekiller):

Why are scientists concerned about the use of the Bt toxin, which is used to kill insects!!

OpenStudy (goodkylekiller):

its made to damage the insects

OpenStudy (somy):

may be The Bt toxin gene is not readily accepted by plants.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

i know the ans that i am going to give isnt one of the options...@alphadxg is right.. but the main problem is that by the use of this....new strains are developed which are resistent to bt toxin and are more potent and virulent

OpenStudy (somy):

then thats why it'd be C

OpenStudy (goodkylekiller):

shru the quest states that it was made to damage the insects so wouldent it be somethng else

OpenStudy (alphadxg):

@Somy It is accepted by plants..

OpenStudy (goodkylekiller):

so then its b

OpenStudy (somy):

but some get resistant

OpenStudy (goodkylekiller):

???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It turns out the correct answer is B

OpenStudy (goodkylekiller):

nice i was right

OpenStudy (alphadxg):

LOL what a horrible question honestly. A was right, C is somewhat right, D is also right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right? Ah ha. Good job everyone.

OpenStudy (somy):

lol ikr @alphadxg

OpenStudy (djedwin):

B. The Bt toxin stays in the soil for long periods of time. I got it right on the quiz :D
