MIT! ___ I need help with this problem. @amistre64 it is a bit different than the last one.

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

I understand that last one amistre64 helped me with. I assume the 1/2 plays a role here.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

this time we know what f(x) does. so what x values are we presented with?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

which distance is smaller, between sqrt .5 and 1, or between sqrt 1.5 and 1?

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

1.5 and one looks closer.

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

@amistre64

OpenStudy (amistre64):

looks closer is not a mathical thing. but yes: sqrt(1.5) - 1 is a smaller value than: sqrt(.5)-1

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

Thank you.
