I need help, can someone quickly explain how to make a regression model for a set of data?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

taking the partial derivative of the sum of the errors

OpenStudy (amistre64):

spose the regression is modeled after some f(x) \[e(x)=\frac{\sum(y-f(x))^2}{n}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay so if they give me a table that I graphed as a scatter plot and got the line of best fit and everything they ask me to make a regression model then how do I find/determine the errors? If any?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the errors are simply the difference between whats observed and whats predicted

OpenStudy (amistre64):

f(x) determines the regression line/curve the errors are simply the difference between ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The line of best fit and the actual observed data???
