What is bias in literary terms?
In an essay or discussion biased means to slant or only select those points which support your position. By ignoring those points which oppose your position, you are clouding a topic.
Bias: a. To influence in an unfair way b. A partiality that prevents objective consideration of an issue or situation. Illustration: A visual representation (a picture or diagram) that is used to make a subject easier to undertand
Here is an example from everyday life: Say you're conducting a survey on swimming pools. There are two towns, one called HappyVille and the other called SadVille. Considering you'd want the best and positive results which match your hypothesis(let us say you do), you would go to HappyVille and survey the people there. Your survey would be biased because you purposely went to one town where you knew most of the results would benefit yours.
