If two lines have the same slope and y-intercept, what is true of the lines?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They are equal or same, infact it is one line on top of the other

Learn this... if the slopes and the y intercepts are the same, then the lines are coincident -- they are the same line and have infinite solutions. if the slopes are the same, but the y intercepts are different, then the lines are parallel and they do not intersect...therefore, they have no solution. if the slopes and the y intercepts are different, then the lines will intersect in exactly one spot, meaning they will have 1 solution.
