OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

Can anyone please suggest me some books for MSc Mathematics ?

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

I am thinking of studying maths a little more deeper.

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

As I don't have any idea where to post this question so I just posted here in maths section.

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

Can anyone please suggest me who to tag to this question ?

mathslover (mathslover):

He is here!

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

@Zarkon ?

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

I prefer foreign authors as they have much better concepts explained in their books.

OpenStudy (zarkon):

what area of mathematics?

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

Actually I don't have much information about different areas. Actually, I have just completed high school and am thinking of joining integrated course for MSc maths. I want to attain some knowledge before going to the college.

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

The areas we will be taught are: Integrated First Degree Foundation Courses MATH F111 : Mathematics I (Advanced Calculus) MATH F112 : Mathematics II (Linear Algebra and Complex Variables) MATH F113 : Probability and Statistics MATH F211 : Mathematics III (Differential Equations)

OpenStudy (zarkon):

if you want to do well then 1st make sure your basic algebra skills are strong. if they are then learn as a much calculus as you can. I really like stewart's book.

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

Calculus by stewart ?

OpenStudy (zarkon):

yes...Calculus by James Stewart

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

Well I believe my basic algebra skills are sufficiently strong, so should I got through this book ?

OpenStudy (zarkon):

Calculus is used in most undergraduate math courses. With a strong calculus background it will make many of the upper level classes easier.

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

Thanks a lot @Zarkon . You really helped me a lot.

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

Just one more thing should I also study trigonometry and geometry ?

OpenStudy (zarkon):

you will need to know your trig and some geometry to do calculus

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

Okay so would this book be sufficient for now or should I study any other book first ?

OpenStudy (zarkon):

I would study Stewart and if you get stuck on some trig part then just review what you need.

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

Okay I would follow your advice. Thanks a lot again.
