describes the structure and function of a carbohydrate?

OpenStudy (matt101):

A carbohydrate is composed of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen atoms (carbo = carbon, hydrate = hydro = water = H2O = hydrogen and oxygen). Carbohydrates can have many functions depending on what you're looking at, but as an example for humans carbohydrates such as sugar and starch represent one of our main food sources. Individual cells use glucose (a kind of sugar) to produce energy for themselves.
