Solve the system, using substitution. What is the x coordinate of the solution? x = 2y - 2 and 3x - y = 14 A. 6 B. 4 C. 1 D. 0 E. no solution

Could someone please walk me through the steps to solve this please?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well.. do you know how to solve linear equations?

OpenStudy (jim766):

x = 2y -2 , since 2y-2 equals x you substitute it in the other equation 3x -y = 14

OpenStudy (jim766):

x = 2y -2 , since 2y-2 equals x you substitute it in the other equation 3(2y-2) -y = 14

OpenStudy (jim766):

now distribute and solve for y

Thank you
