What is the surface area of the prism?

I know the basic formula of it, but I need someone to walk me through it or give me a step by step process so I can understand it better :)

Assuming it is a right rectangular prism (all right angles), each of the sides is a rectangle. Find the areas of the sides and add them up.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, I'll try and see if the answers match up.

That type of formula doesn't seem to work... the correct answer is 228 but Im not getting it. I may be doing something wrong though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So it goes something like\[A=2(4(6)+4(9)+6(9))=228\]Note that the factor of two acknowledges that opposite sides have identical dimensions.

Oh ok

thanks!
