It thinks that \ is denoting a command, "\welcome", when none exists.
Instead of simply a backslash, we should use a special command: \backslash

LaTeX treats anything prefixed with a backslash as a command, and the whole alpha string afterwards is part of the name of the command.
So, it thinks you are trying to declare a command called "hugestudy" When LaTeX does not understand a command, it becomes bright red indicating an error.

You want to use this backslash character, but it's function as a special character takes priority, and that's just what the program understands. You have to use a specific command to get the backslash out, "\backslash", to get the actual character to show up!]

Is it possible to draw \(pictures\) using latex ? just a doubt... using ascii we used to draw pics in messages, similar way, is it possible ?

Beyond some creative ASCII coloring or maybe something with colored boxes/tables, there's not much to use for real pictures. I personally have not tried it myself either. ;x

There is some more versatility with a full LaTeX package (especially, graphing), but OpenStudy uses more of a popular subset of LaTeX, MathJax, which does not specifically support pictures.

What you use right now is MathJax on OpenStudy. Put simply, it is the Math environment of LaTeX that supports all the Math functions like \cos, \ln, ... and plenty of relevant Math tools. But we generally just refer to it as LaTeX because they function the same for the most part.

I have not done a lot of research on this, it may be worth looking into. :D
