A friend says that astronauts inside the International Space Station are weightless because they’re beyond the pull of Earth’s gravity. Correct your friend’s ignorance. Help me solve @Abhisar

OpenStudy (abhisar):

What do u think ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think because there is no gravity in space the are not weightless they still have weight but it is not felt

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for instance if i weighed 200 pounds and went swimming i would still weigh 200 pounds but i would float because my body mass is distributed differently on water

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Actually the line because they’re beyond the pull of Earth’s gravity is false

OpenStudy (abhisar):

They are inside the earths gravity and are constantly falling

OpenStudy (abhisar):

The high speed (tangential speed) of space station is the cause they never reach to the ground

OpenStudy (abhisar):

So they are in a state of free fall that's why they are feeling weightless

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well now I feel dumb

OpenStudy (abhisar):

u didn't got that ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i understand it now yes, before no

OpenStudy (abhisar):

oh...!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

one more for today i promise

OpenStudy (abhisar):

u can ask two more. I promise !!
