Why /how did Britain, the greatest military power in the world at the time, FAIL to defeat the rebelling colonists in the Revolutionary War?

Well Britain used a straight forward attack, they stood in the middle of the battle grounds as if they were invincible, while America learned from the Indians to hide and sneak up on Britain. Hope this helps :)

America had difficulty raising money for basic supplies, The british had to persuade the Americans to give up their claim of independence

Even though this should be in the history section. The American Patriots learned from the native Americans and used ambushes and hiding techniques to win most of their battle instead of traditional battle of front lines.
