3(5x - 2y +4z) then you multiply 3 by each of the inside variables so 3 times 5x = 15x 3 times -2y = -6y 3 times 4z = 12z 15x - 6y + 12z is the answer
Distribute the 3(5x-2y+4z). 1. 3*5x-3*2y+3*4z 2. 15x-6y+12z Do you understand?

Its just multiplication... so you multiply all the numbers on the inside of the parenthesis by 3
